B.B.King，美国歌手，吉他演奏家，作曲家，BLUES王国的主宰。他可以在任何地方录音，作品既有纯布鲁斯的，也有乡村音乐风格的，还有流行和摇滚的，但每一种形式中都夹杂着布鲁斯的成分。他是有史以来最伟大的布鲁斯音乐家之一，外号“布鲁斯之王”（”The King of Blues”）。他一直有着无上的自信，能够从任何抒情诗中挤榨所有微妙的语感；他那独特的小颤音足以将他与后来人远远分开。同时，他亦是一位表现力丰富的超级歌手，善于使用不同的曲调演唱同一句歌词，而且经常变化唱法，颤声、假声或是真假声轮唱。不过，最重要的一点是：B.B.KING一直是位谦逊的superstar，而且永远面带笑容。
在布鲁斯音乐领域，如果B.B.King不能称之为王者，那估计没人敢领受这个称号。你完全可以在布鲁斯与B.B.King之间划等号，没有任何一位布鲁斯艺术家能够像B.B.King一样，在世界范围内获得普遍认可，并对布鲁斯音乐本身以及摇滚乐、爵士乐等类型的音乐产生如此深远的影响。
在2003年《滚石》杂志评选的史上百大吉他手中，B.B.King名列第三，有一些人对此觉得不能理解，如果单纯论吉他技术的话，比B.B.King厉害的人实在太多了。然而B.B.King之所以被其他吉他手们发自内心推崇的原因，是因为他独具风格的吉他演奏语言。
B.B.King除了创造性的使用推弦、揉弦等演奏技巧之外，他的颤音更是一绝，即使只有一个音符，他也能够通过极具张力的颤音让它富有鲜活的表现力，这已经成为他最具辨识度的标志。B.B.King的吉他演奏从来不以速度取胜，而是通过琴弦的按、推、揉、滑等技巧，来呈现情绪的高低起落，使得他的音乐听起来感情充沛、情绪饱满，极易打动听众。
B.B.King的音乐生涯也非常漫长，一直到2005年他80岁，他才举办了告别演唱会，老爷子虽然受糖尿病困扰多年，但在演出方面从不含糊，不管是演唱还是弹奏，仍然保持了相当的水准。在巴西站的告别巡演上，他被问及是否这是他最后的演出时，他说：“我最喜欢的演员之一是苏格兰的肖恩·康纳利，他最知名的角色是007系列的詹姆斯·邦德，他演了一部电影叫《永不说不》（Never Say Never Again）。”这表明了他对舞台无限的热爱。
半个多世纪以来，B.B.King一共获得过15次格莱美音乐奖。1987年他荣获格莱美终身成就奖；1980年位列“布鲁斯名人堂”；1987年入选了“摇滚名人堂”。为了特别感谢他为美国音乐做出的贡献，时任总统布什还向他颁发了美国最高的国民荣誉奖——“总统自由勋章”。
除了音乐，B.B.King喜爱赌博也是出了名的。他曾开玩笑道：“虽然赌博必然会输掉，但一个人很难在赌博中什么都赢不了，我还是希望我能赢。”因此，他后来索性把家都搬到赌城拉斯维加斯，而这里也成了他人生的最后一站。2015年5月14日21:40，B.B.King在拉斯维加斯的家中去世，享年89岁。他的遗体被运回家乡密西西比州，举行葬礼的时候，除其亲朋好友和密西西比州州长Phil Bryant外，还有500名歌迷出席，场外亦有200名歌迷观看直播。美国国会议员Bennie Thompson到场代为美国总统奥巴马宣读悼文，文中写道：“布鲁斯失去了它的王者，而美国失去了一位传奇人物。”
