Don Williams（当·威廉姆斯，1939年5月27日－2017年9月8日），1939年5月生于德克萨斯州，是美国乡村歌手，唱作人，1958年高中毕业后，成为民谣乐团Pozo-Seco Singers的成员之一，1971年开始其独立音乐人的生涯。因歌喉浑厚，歌路抒情优美，大提琴般低吟的男性美声一出，有乡村音乐界的“绅士巨人”之称，从1971年以来发行29张录音室专辑，6张精选集，有21首歌曲登上美国或加拿大乡村音乐榜冠军位置，2010年2月23日入驻Country Music Hall of Fame（乡村音乐名人堂）。
2017年9月8日，Don Williams因病逝世，享年78岁。
个人经历
乡村乐歌手与作者Don Williams 1939年5月27日生于德州的弗罗伊迭达市,在德州的波特兰市度过童年后于1958年毕业毕业于格里高利-波特兰高中.1971年离开了待了七年的民谣乐队Pozo Seco Singers开始自己的事业,主要唱流行民谣,就是他第一张专辑里的17首歌.他简单的声音,温和的曲调和令人难忘的歌词使他赢得了乡村音乐”优雅巨人”的称号.
他在青少年时期就从母亲那学习了弹吉他,参加了乡村摇滚和民谣乐队.他和Lofton Kline一起成立了自己的第一个乐队—The Strangers Two, 并于1964年招入了Susan Taylor, 乐队也更名为Pozo Seco Singers.在于哥伦比亚公司签订了合同以后,大概共了五十多首金曲.1971年乐队解散后,Don Williams也开始了个人生涯.
刚开始时Williams是作为杰克唱片公司的词作者.最终与JMI公司签订了合同.他1974年发行的歌”we should be together”拿到了第五的名次,接着又签到了ABC/DOT唱片公司.在ABC/DOT的第一首单曲”I Wouldn’t Want to Live If You Didn’t Love Me,”成为了第一热门歌曲,也是他从1974年至1991年这些年中最好听的十首歌中的第一首.而且在他发行的46首单曲中,只有4首没有达到前十的位置.
2006头,Williams发表声音将离开歌坛,并在美国本土和外国举行了一系列的告别演唱会,最后一首告别演唱会于2006年11月21号在田纳西州的孟非斯的加能剧场举行,受到了很大的好评.据他员工表示,Williams已经不可能再举办巡回演唱会,但是录制新的歌曲还是有可能的.
1960年4月10日与Joy Bucher 喜结连理,并育有二子:加里和蒂母.
1978年,他获得了美国乡村音乐协会(CMA)年度最佳男歌手,他的歌Tulsa Time也获得了年度最佳歌曲。
作品风格
Don Williams以他刚毅的男声唱出了他的温柔关切之情。在听他的音乐时，就好象是在和一个老朋友在娓娓叙说心事。这种风格在后期的音乐中表现得尤其突出。正如他自己所说：“我认为在日常生活中，没有什么比跟人打交道更重要的事儿了。对我来说，这就是全部。所以当你找歌的时候，如果有歌曲能够表达这些，那么你就找到了有那么些特别的东西了。”在Don Williams的音乐中很少有华丽的配器，一把吉他就是最好的伴奏。
Don Williams的声音稳定沉着，然而又明亮华丽，这使得他以“温柔的巨人”这样的美誉成名。这个外号是他在上世纪七十年代早期获得的，那时他刚开始以“城市乡村乐(Countrypolitan)”流行并一直持续到了九十年代早期。Williams从来不是一个革新者，然后他的情歌却大受欢迎。在他的整个职业生涯里，共获得过21个冠军歌曲。
