正当乐队蒸蒸日上的时候，詹尼斯却宣布退出乐队独立发展，Big Brother乐队也因此而解散。到1969年她和重组的The Kozmic blues Band于十月份推出专辑《I Get Dem Ol’Kozmic Blues Again Mama!》(妈妈，我再次得到了戴姆·奥尔考兹米克布鲁斯乐)，这张专辑反响很好，但是乐队也只维持到了年底就解散了。

詹尼斯·乔普林在1943年出生，成名于1966年，于1968年推出专辑Cheap Thrills，则成功登上流行榜首位。詹尼斯·乔普林就此树立了一代迷幻女将的地位。詹尼斯·乔普林的唱腔原本就带有极浓蓝调色彩，唱到低沉处如泣如诉，到激昂处尽情尽致，其演绎手法即兴而狂野，故被纳入迷幻一派。
歌声泪痕 《The rose》是一部关于摇滚乐史上最伟大的女性——詹尼斯·乔普林的传记片，制片人找了一位外形比较相似——同时也是一名歌手的贝蒂·米德勒来出演这位传奇女星的短暂一生，令人唏嘘不已，贝蒂·米德勒的表演应该说是比较到位的。影片中除了引用了大量詹尼斯·乔普林的歌曲以外，贝蒂.米德勒也一展歌喉，在影片中大放异彩。影片的原声专集十分畅销，其中出现了一曲也许是摇滚乐史上最为动听的歌曲《The rose》。
